never beneath her

Never Beneath Her  is a provocative example of feminist activism. This work is part of the series “The Free Woman’s Primer,” in which Aliteia explores an alphabet representing women who are victims of psychological violence perpetrated by patriarchy. Each letter corresponds to a word or phrase related to the violence these women endure. The choice to use a mirror as the medium for the text carries profound symbolism. It reflects not only the physical image of the viewer but also society and its dynamics, highlighting the role of women in a patriarchal system. Through the use of dysgraphic calligraphy, the artist conveys the discomfort, anger, and determination of women as they resist and confront patriarchy. This piece is a call to action for the creation of a more equitable and just world for all women.
